Carter named national counselor of the year

CAPE HOME TO NATIONAL COUNSELOR OF THE YEAR
Olivia Carter is the 2021 National Counselor of the YearCape Girardeau is home to the 2021 National Counselor of the Year.  The American School Counselor Association selected Jefferson Elementary's Olivia Carter as the winner from an impressive group of five finalists.  Ms. Carter was surprised with the news during a student presentation at the school.  

Carter was named the Missouri Counselor of the Year during the 2019-2020 school year, which qualified her for the national award.  She has been a school counselor for nine years including five at Jefferson.  She holds a master's in school counseling from Southeast Missouri State University where she also received a bachelor's degree in psychology.  

CONGRATULATIONS, MS. CARTER!  CGPS is so proud of you and thankful for your commitment to our students and community!
